He turned, his heart hammering against ribs that felt too fragile. Standing at the end of the alley was a figure in dark robes, head tilted unnaturally. Two points of dull steel glowed where eyes should have been. The air suddenly grew heavy with the taste of copper and ozone as the Inquisitive began to burn Steel.
