Waxillium "Wax" Ladrian is the head of House Ladrian and a special constable and detective. He was once a lawman of the roughs and is now a senator. He is a Twinborn with the Allomantic ability to Push metals and the Feruchemical ability to increase or decrease his weight. Six years following *The Bands of Mourning*, Wax has retired from his lawman career and become a prominent figure in Elendel politics, known as the 'Lawman Senator of the Roughs', aided by his wife Steris, with whom he has two young children, Maxillium and Tindwyl.

Waxillium Ladrian, head of House Ladrian, is a special constable and detective who once served as a lawman of the roughs before becoming a senator. He is a Twinborn, wielding the Allomantic ability to Push metals and the Feruchemical ability to increase or decrease his weight. Six years after the events of *The Bands of Mourning*, Wax has retired from his lawman career and is now a prominent figure in Elendel politics, known as the 'Lawman Senator of the Roughs'. He lives with his wife Steris and their two young children, Maxillium and Tindwyl. Despite Wax's and Steris' efforts to ease tensions between Elendel and its neighboring cities in the Basin, as well as between the north and the Southern Scadrial nation of the Malwish Consortium, conflict escalates. Wax and his best friend Wayne go to confront Wax's sister Telsin, the leader of the Set, at the Set's base, killing several Set members. They discover the bomb is on a ship headed for the city. Wax reaches the boat with Wayne, and the duo discover the bomb can be defused, but the defuser will die. Wayne sacrifices himself to defuse the bomb and save Wax. In the aftermath, Wax lives happily with Steris and his children.

Six years after the quest for the Bands of Mourning, Waxillium Ladrian has retired from his lawman career and become a senator, known as the 'Lawman Senator of the Roughs'. He lives with his wife Steris and their two children, Maxillium and Tindwyl. Despite his and Steris' diplomatic efforts, tensions between Elendel and its neighboring cities, as well as between the north and the Malwish Consortium, escalate. Wax's sister Telsin, leader of the Set and avatar of Autonomy, plots to smuggle a magical equivalent of an atomic bomb into Elendel. Wax and Wayne go to confront Telsin at the Set's base, killing several Set members, but discover the bomb is not there—it is on a ship headed for the city. Wax reaches the boat with Wayne, and they discover the bomb can be defused, but the defuser will die. Wayne sacrifices himself to defuse the bomb and save Wax. Telsin's overloaded body dies upon Autonomy removing her influence. In the aftermath, Wax lives happily with Steris and his children, and the city honors Wayne with a statue.
